Abell 262   (+ the Fath)

 

 


Galaxy cluster Abell 262 is part of the Perseus-Pisces supercluster. Located in the Andromeda, it is at a distance of about 220 million light-years. The most prominent galaxy in the center is the elliptical cd-galaxy NGC 708, and the close grouping around it is also known as The Fath (after astronomer Edward Arthur Fath, 1880-1959). It is also interesting that
the majority of bright galaxies here are spirals (some 20 of them can be identified in the picture).
For relatively small scope this group represents rather difficult object, and so be
lenient.
